Complex Financial Instruments (2016)

This performance-installation uses musical metaphors to explore the relationship between affect and the economy. Conceived with the theorist Leigh Claire La Berge, the project transforms the gallery into a space for a novel form of therapy combining psychoanalysis and financial advice.

A gallery visitor signs up for a 50-minute session held in a private gallery room with a trained therapist. A sound feed of the session is sent to two musicians located in the display window where they attempt to reproduce the respective voices of the therapist and patient in real time via instrumental sound.

Presented at Projektraum Lotte, Stuttgart, Germany, June 10-13, 2016.
